Stay Active and Beat the Heat with Four VA Virtual Care Tools

Exercise is crucial to your overall health. However, it’s important to exercise safely when it’s hot outside. Depending on where you live, you may experience high temperatures and humidity, which can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Here are four ways Veterans can use VA virtual care resources to take the right precautions to stay active, even during the warmest days:

  • Set reminders to work out in the morning or evening, when it’s cooler outside, with the Annie for Veterans “Increase Physical Activity” text message subscription (text “SUB BODY” to 75338).
  • Set and track hydration goals (and other health goals) with the Live Whole Health app
  • Find aquatic workouts on the MOVE! Coach app.
  • Use VA Health Chat to get quick answers to non-life-threatening health questions, especially when experiencing pain or unusual symptoms during exercise.
