VA’s Clinical Resource Hubs are bridging gaps in health care coverage. VA health care professionals, like Dr. Samara Martinez, a primary care physician in the VISN 8 Clinical Resource Hub, provide “gap coverage” for facilities in the network. The network’s VA hospitals and clinics are located in Florida, South Georgia, and the Caribbean.
“Clinical Resource Hubs ensure that distance does not hinder Veterans from receiving medical and specialty care,” Dr. Samara Martinez said. “We use technology like VA Video Connect (VA’s secure videoconferencing app), Clinical Video Telehealth, and in-person appointments to maximize health care access.”
Today, all 18 of VA’s VISNs operate Clinical Resource Hub programs. The size and scope vary based on patient population and demographics, clinic capacity, geographic location, and other factors.
