This fall at the 2024 VHA Innovation Experience (iEX) in Chicago, VHA Shark Tank finalists took the stage to pitch their promising practices to VISN and VA Medical Center Director “Sharks.” Low Vision TeleEye Rehabilitation, pitched by a Buffalo VA team, was among the 10 Promising Practices that won.
The team, led by Carolyn Ihrig, OD, earned the opportunity to implement their practice at the chosen Shark Bid site — the VA Illiana Healthcare System in Danville, Illinois.
Veterans with low vision who live in rural communities typically must travel long distances to access VA rehabilitation services. Low Vision TeleEye Rehabilitation is a Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT) solution that enables timely visits with a low-vision optometrist and a low-vision therapist, either at their home, a VA clinic, or VA ATLAS site.
