Veterans: Don’t Let Winter Woes Weigh on Your Wellness

It can be easy to hibernate during the winter months. Some people don’t like going out in cold weather. Some worry about getting around in icy and snowy conditions. Some have trouble driving in the extended darkness of the season. And for millions, seasonal affective disorder (SAD) makes self-care more difficult. SAD is a mental health condition, most prevalent in the fall and winter, where a seasonal change triggers a significant mood shift.

It’s important to continue your health care uninterrupted during the winter months. The Office of Connected Care recently published an article on VA News that describes how VA’s many virtual care options can help. It includes information about video telehealth visits, VA’s self-care mobile apps, My HealtheVet, and the downloadable VA: Health and Benefits app.
