Know Before You Go: Manage Your VA Care While Traveling

A man wheeling a suitcase.

The Office of Connected Care recently shared an article that gives Veterans five basic tips for ensuring their health care needs are met while they are traveling. Veterans can use My HealtheVet features and other VA virtual care tools and technologies to assist them in completing each of the following pre-vacation planning activities:

  1. Notify your VA care team, preferably four to six weeks before travel.
  2. Ensure you have up-to-date documentation, especially your health insurance ID card.
  3. Update your vaccines and access your vaccination history.
  4. Manage your prescriptions and request refills if needed.
  5. Know your VA telehealth options to keep up with appointments while traveling domestically.
