Last month, the Office of Connected Care opened a new ATLAS site at the American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 in Emporia, Kansas, making it the 13th ATLAS location across the nation. Veterans who receive care from the VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System can connect with their providers closer to home through a VA Video Connect visit at the ATLAS site.
ATLAS, or Accessing Telehealth through Local Area Stations, is part of VA’s Anywhere to Anywhere telehealth initiative. ATLAS sites are currently located at select Walmart, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) locations.
“ATLAS sites are opening at many American Legion posts across the country,” said Paul E. Dillard, National Commander of The American Legion. “There is a great reason for this: Telehealth makes sense. Not only is it a safer option during a pandemic, but Veterans can save substantially on time and transportation costs. The American Legion supports and celebrates technology that brings such convenience to Veterans.”
