Winners of the this year's VHA Shark Tank Competition were recently announced at the VHA Innovation Experience (iEX) 2020 virtual conference, and three VA Telehealth innovations received winning bids: TeleLactation, Remote Temperature Monitoring in Amputation Prevention Through Telehealth, and Virtual Integrated PCMHI (VIP) Hub.
The VHA Shark Tank Competition shines a spotlight on VA employees who are passionate about creating innovative solutions for some of the toughest challenges across VHA. More than 400 innovations were submitted to this year's competition. The top 15 finalists were given three minutes to pitch their solutions to a panel of VA Medical Center directors (the "sharks"). The directors then placed bids on the innovations they wanted to implement at their medical centers.
The winning VA Telehealth innovations will be implemented in the following VA locations:
- TeleLactation – William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina, and the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System
- Remote Temperature Monitoring in Amputation Prevention Through Telehealth – Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System
- VIP Hub – Asheville VA Medical Center and Orlando VA Medical Center
