January is the month for making resolutions and Connected Care took that opportunity to remind Veterans and staff about the tools VA offers to help quit smoking.
The My HealtheVet article, Stay Smoke-Free in 2023, spotlights VA’s proven treatments to help Veterans successfully quit, including medication options, counseling support services available through VA providers and Quit VET, VA’s free telephone quitline, and the extra support offered by downloading VA’s Stay Quit Coach mobile app.
Stay Quit Coach was built for Veterans but is free to download for anyone who wants to kick the habit. Connected Care published a VA News article that shares how Joni Stalnaker, a home telehealth program support assistant at the Richmond VA, used the app to quit smoking in 2020 when her VA facility became a smoke-free campus.
“My advice would be to download it and give it a try. Even if you have a setback, every day is a new day to make a change.”
