The 2021 VHA Shark Tank Competition finalists have been announced, and a VA team’s use of Annie is among the 16 Promising Practices chosen to compete. Finalists were selected from more than 320 applicants.
Annie is a VA service that sends automated text messages to Veterans to support self-care. Texts may include health-related notifications, reminders, or motivational messages. In this case, the team from the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston developed a series of Annie reminders to help Veterans prep for their colonoscopies.
The Shark Tank Competition will take place during the 2021 VHA Innovation Experience Virtual Series. The finalists will have three minutes to pitch their innovations to VA Medical Center and VA Network Directors (the Sharks), who will bid on the practices they’d like to replicate at their VA facilities.
