Neil Evans, MD, Chief Officer of Connected Care, recently spoke at the ECRI Institute's 24th Annual Conference at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Conference attendees examined the impact current and emerging health care innovations are having on health systems' workflows and the delivery of quality care.
Dr. Evans presented a case study of Connected Care technologies, including the My HealtheVet health portal, VA Mobile applications and VA Telehealth Services. He explained how these digital tools are providing greater access to care and patient health information, as well as improving the overall care experience for Veterans.
"... we have been working hard to leverage technology to deliver care virtually to patients where they are, in the context of their daily lives," Dr. Evans said. "Patients are realizing that in many ways, these technology interventions are the most awesome workaround ever ... that this is reducing the barrier for them to access their health care provider, to access their own health care information, to become more educated consumers and better self-manage their care."
