Ellen Edmonson, RN, MPH, serves as the Office of Connected Care’s Deputy Director for Telehealth for Operations and Quality. Ms. Edmonson has expertise in developing and leading high-functioning virtual teams in planning and implementing innovative technologies into routine care. She actively works through the change management challenges faced in re-engineering healthcare in order to develop clinical services that are sustainable and expandable, while remaining focused on the critical aspects of patient safety, quality of care and patient satisfaction.

Ms. Edmonson has more than 20 years of clinical and executive leadership experience in the private and federal health care sectors, with 15 years of experience at VA. During her tenure with VA, she has worked at the VA Medical Center level as an inpatient Registered Nurse, Community Health Nurse Coordinator, Home Telehealth Care Coordinator, and Facility Telehealth Coordinator. She went on to lead national telehealth operations for VA Telehealth Services as the Director of Operations and then as the Deputy Chief Consultant. In addition to these positions, Ms. Edmonson was appointed as the national program manager for the Secretary of the VA’s Telehealth Transformation Into the 21st Century initiative in 2010, which was dedicated to the national expansion of VA telehealth.

Ms. Edmonson earned her master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
