When the coronavirus pandemic first started, a team of occupational therapists at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center in West Virginia decided to expand their use of VA Video Connect. They began offering home medical equipment evaluations, exercise treatment programs and more.
Today, more than a year later, the team has decided that virtual occupational therapy appointments will not only remain after the COVID-19 pandemic but will continue to grow.
"It was never an option not to provide OT services to our Veterans," said Kristen Wingate, Occupational Therapist. "The purpose of OT is to give meaning and value back to one's life, and at a time when somebody can feel so isolated, OT is even more important.''
