Christina M. Armstrong, Ph.D., Connected Health Implementation Strategies Lead for the Office of Connected Care, recently participated in an interview with Adam Paterson, host of GovernmentCIO's podcast, Healthcast.
The 15-minute episode, Expanding Mental Telehealth for Veterans, shares details about Connected Care's long-standing mission to create virtual health technologies that increase Veterans' access to care. Dr. Armstrong explains that the pandemic didn't alter that mission, but rather, greatly accelerated it.
"Our work tripled. We took it as an opportunity to meet the critical need that everybody had. I'm so proud of all the work we've done and all that we've been able to accomplish."
During the interview, Dr. Armstrong talks about VA's increased rate of mental health appointments being delivered over VA Video Connect, and she underscores the importance of staff education and training to support those efforts.
