“Telehealth saved my life,” said Vincent DeMarro, a Veteran from West Chester, Pennsylvania. “It’s pretty amazing how the whole telehealth team comes together. It reminds me sometimes of fantasy football. I feel like I have a dream team.”
After years of unexplained symptoms, DeMarro was diagnosed with parkinsonism in 2020. Through VA’s National TeleNeurology Program, he now receives expert care from specialists across the country, without leaving home.
DeMarro’s care team uses video visits, health data from DeMarro’s wrist-worn remote monitoring device shared through My HealtheVet on VA.gov, and secure messaging with the Share My Health Data app to fully support his care plan. DeMarro also joined a TelePhysical therapy group for Veterans with neurological diseases that provides virtual social and lifestyle support.
